This small group activity strengthens multistructural understandings of the text. After reading the text (or part of it) students write down one relevant idea and pass the paper to another student.
The next student reads the response and adds something new related to the text. The paper is handed on until it gets back to the first student or until no new ideas are generated. One of these ideas can be used as the focus question to start the SOLO hexagons activity.
