I met with the fabulous Liz McNeill when I was working in Christchurch this week – we have recently co-authored three new secondary English resource books – the SOLO Taxonomy and Making Meaning series – using Google docs.
We created and proofed the three manuscripts working from Christchurch and Auckland respectively – Google docs, email and the occasional txt message was all we needed for a successful collaboration.
I was especially chuffed at the opportunity to meet “in the real” – and to be introduced to the source of the background noise in the writing process – the active pre-schooler AND the new baby (who was smart enough to wait until the proofs had been checked before arriving on the scene).
Meeting Angus and Hamish meant that when I unpacked the vivid lime green box from Essential Resources – sitting so expectantly in the middle of my desk – on my return from Christchurch – I had a greater appreciation of the authoring process.
These three new SOLO books from Essential Resources have been written around (and help celebrate) the rhythms of family life.
